Apr 7: Day 1 of my fast, day 771 of our chain.
Today, just some random thoughts (sorry for rambling) from a glucose-deprived mind.
Most of my worries circle around Ukraine right now, esp. as we are in Europe at the moment. In my mind, the invasion was driven by the fear of more protests and rising strong democracies. Clear parallels emerge among autocrats, they just don’t understand how masses of people would just protest oftheir own free will. It presents a much larger danger to their power than the imagined ones that they use as a reason to crush civil disobedience (e.g. labeling them as anti-nationals).
A grass-roots fasting chain would likely be even more unimaginable to these autocrats as the personal investment from fasters is rather large. If it grew larger, I am sure the pushback and accusations of being driven by other “agents” would certainly grow. However, the universal appeal of the fast, its inclusiveness and grass-roots origin makes it strong and non-partisan. Here is to keeping this grass roots initiative alive, fasting against fascism and today also against committing atrocities in the name of fighting alleged fascism.
