Aug 21: Day 1 of my fast, day 907 of our chain.
Today, a post on the BJP making a campaign promise in 2018 to legitimize child marriages in Rajasthan caught my eye. Having read the Manusmriti all weekend, this looked like a no-brainer to me. Of course, you’d make promises like that to Rajasthan, the only state in the country to have a statue of Manu in front of their High Court. Because the Manusmriti clearly says:
Ch 9, verse 94. A man, aged thirty years, shall marry a maiden of twelve who pleases him, or a man of twenty-four a girl eight years of age; if (the performance of) his duties would (otherwise) be impeded, (he must marry) sooner.
We’d be remiss not to vote for the BJP in large numbers if we don’t want to miss our ticket to 3 AD. A golden age when every single person lived to pamper, protect and preserve the Brahmins, and women were considered property and equated with chattel.
