The election results were dispiriting even saddening. Still, one doesn’t lose hope that as Indians we will survive this. And so, the satyagraha we all do gathers even more meaning in keeping that flame of hope and courage alive.

Mar 3: Day 1 of my fast, day 738 of our chain.

The court of media opinion moves much faster than the law. In dictatorships the media is controlled by the State. In democracies the media is controlled by wealthy individuals with political affiliations. Objective media and journalists simply do not exist in the mainstream. The pen (print media) had been mightier than the sword but then the the tongue (electronic media) took over. Today a story is not told it’s sold.

When Ukrainian civilians pick up weapons to defend their land from invaders, global media calls them heroes ! Rightly. When other freedom fighters do it in some other part of the world ! They call them terrorists!

Until you realize how easy it is for your mind to be manipulated, you remain the puppet of someone else’s game. ✍️ Arshiya Qureshi Sis

Mar 4: Day 2 of my fast, day 739 of our chain.

मुसीबतें/आपदायें/बीमारियां इससे पहले भी आईं.. हालात इससे पहले भी बिगड़े…

लेकिन यह नया भारत है कि जहां किसी बीमारी से अपने नागरिकों को बचाना सरकार का कर्तव्य नहीं, बल्कि एक पागल होने की हद तक आत्ममुग्ध लीडर का अहसान है।

जहां खुद के तानाशाही फैसले से प्रभावित घरों से दूर, सड़कों पर जूझते नागरिकों की मदद करना सरकार का कर्तव्य नहीं बल्कि एक छिछले नेता का अहसान है।

जहां देश से बाहर किसी मुसीबत में फंसे नागरिकों को वहां से निकाल कर अपने देश लाना सरकार की जिम्मेदारी नहीं बल्कि प्रचारजीवी प्रधानमंत्री का अहसान है। ✍️ अशफ़ाक़ अहमद अशफ़ाक़ अहमद Bhai

Mar 5: Day 3 of my fast, day 740 of our chain.
ये कहानी 2014 की है। तब नरेंद्र मोदी प्रधानमंत्री और सुषमा स्वराज भारत की पहली महिला विदेश मंत्री थीं।

इराक के मोसुल में IS के आतंकियों ने 39 भारतीयों को अगवा कर लिया। वे उन्हें एक अज्ञात स्थान पर ले गए।

लेकिन सुषमा स्वराज ने लापता लोगों के परिजनों से कहा कि सभी सुरक्षित हैं। उनसे बात भी हुई है।

इस झूठ को प्रचार में बदलने के लिए सुषमा ने लापता लोगों के परिजनों के साथ बाकायदा फ़ोटो सेशन करवाया।

जब भी कोई परिजन उनसे मिलने आता तो सुषमा कहतीं- सब ठीक हैं। स्वस्थ हैं।

फिर एक दिन उन 39 लोगों के समूह से एक बंदा किसी तरह भाग गया। यह तब हुआ, जब IS उन लोगों को गोली मारने ले जा रहे थे।

वह बंदा भारत पहुंचा और बताया कि 38 भारतीयों को गोली मार दी गई है तो विदेश मंत्रालय ने उसे ही पकड़कर बंद कर दिया।

वहां से रिहा होकर उस बंदे ने फिर जब सच बोला तो सरकार ने उसे गलत बता दिया। बंदे का नाम हरजीत मसीह था।

फिर एक NGO ने मोसुल में एक बड़ी कब्र ढूंढी। 38 कंकाल मिले। डीएनए सैंपल लिए गए। सब उन्हीं भारतीयों से मैच हो गए।

अब सुषमा को सच बोलना ही था। प्रेस वार्ता बुलाई और कहा कि IS ने भारतीय बंधकों को मार दिया है।

उन्होंने बँधकों के परिजनों से बात तक नहीं की।

यूक्रेन में फंसे भारतीय बच्चों पर संकट के समय जिन्हें भी सुषमा स्वराज याद आ रही हैं, उन्हें इस कहानी को याद रखना चाहिए।
